A love letter written to my great-great-grandmother from my great-great-grandfather. Dated Monday at noon, 1914.
“My dearest Dena,
I will answer your letter now as you told me to, you know that I cannot refuse to not joy anything my little Dena asks for, my sweetheart.
… .
I did think you loved me this morning when we were lying in the patch. You would not speak to me when I said something to you and would not even look at me. I just said to myself “I wonder what in the devil she is mad about” But it did not make me mad a bit, just made me love you more.
… .
You said if I love you like you do then no one else can come between us, dear. I love you more than you love me.
From the one that loves you better than anybody on earth.
Take my mistakes for kisses.
yours only,
Lawrence”
